'DINNER PARTY' 2026
'Dinner Party' is a stop motion animation I created using the under-table photography technique. It is a story about a dinner party where the rapacious guests devour the meal and then each other. It's a parable about greed, with the characters growing in size the more they eat, ravenously consuming anything they can grab. Eventually the host at the head of the table has won the cannibalistic feast and he sits at the end of his table, with nothing left to eat. He tries to leave to get more food, but he's grown too fat to fit through the door, and he shrivels and dies. I've been thinking a lot about the idea of greed lately and how we live in a world which feels almost hilariously akin to the hyperbolic narratives we read in childhood bedtime stories that warned us of greed's dangers. One of the most realistic characters I've seen on TV lately is Scrooge McDuck.
It's not a very profound message, but I found that a simple story could be conveyed more successfully in such a short film. This was the first animated film I've made, but it was a lot of fun and I will definitely do it again.
